Each student at STEM has his/her own Chromebook that can be used in class and at home. Our Computer Science seniors also have a Macbook Pro that they are allowed to use in school and at home.

We are a Google Workspace for Education school/district. Students create ePortfolios in Drive where they feature their best work, which can be shared when applying for education beyond igh school.

SMART Boards and SMART Notebook Plus

Each classroom at STEM is equipped with a digital SMART Board and uses the SMART Notebook software. In our math classes, the SMRT Notebook Plus software is used for it’s advanced features which provide additional tools that better support their specific subjec area.

3D printing and Milling machines are used to provide hands-on, interactive learning that boosts creativity, problem-solving, and engagement by allowing students to design and build physical models for a wide range of projects.

Project Lead the Way

Project Lead the Way (PLTW)

Project Lead the Way is a STEM program that provides hands-on activities, projects, and real-world challenges to help students develop problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. The program aims to prepare students for future careers by making learning more engaging and relevant to life outside the classroom. The students work on project-based lessons and each produces a unique final product that is specific to their interests. 

 

Drone ClubGaming Club

Drone Club & Gaming Club

STEM has a Drone Club. Student learn what is needed to successfully complete the aeronautical knowledge exam after their 16th birthday. Students who complet the exam get their drone license from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

STEM also has a Gaming Club. Students not only play video games, but they also learn skills about how to create video games and a gaming server.

Graphic Arts

Freshmen and Sophomores at STEM take Graphic Arts classes. They use iPads to create digital art using the application, Procreate. Each year the students’ art work is showcased at the Board of Education Office for one month. Additionally, you can see samples of student art work hanging on the walls throughout the building at STEM.

Laptop Maintenance and Repairs

It is important that students shut down and restart Chromebooks weekly in order for updates to be installed. Students are expected to bring their device to school fully charged each day. If a repair is needed, see the Technology Coordinator with your device and charger. If necessary, the student will be provided with a loaner device while their device is out for repair.
