The STEM Innovation Academy of the Oranges is a highly-innovative 4-year program spanning grades 9-12 resulting from the joint collaborative between The City of Orange, the Orange Public Schools, the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), The College of New Jersey, and Montclair State University. The Academy exemplifies an early college model whereby students, from grade 9 on, navigate through a four-year scope and sequence of high school and college coursework. The Academy provides students with a high school to college to career continuum that helps them understand the direct links between what they are learning today and the worlds of college and work.

STEM's Professional Development Plan was created as a framework for the essential content, conditions, and attributes for effective professional learning and to articulate what teachers should know and be able to do to ensure every student reaches the goal of being ready to enter college or the workforce.

Student Attire and Uniform Expectations
Students are expected to dress appropriately and safely for a professional school environment and to wear the approved STEM uniform each day.
The regular school uniform includes:
• Approved white or blue polo shirts
• Blue slacks or skirts
• Approved STEM jackets or sweaters
• Navy hooded garments bearing the STEM logo
All sweaters and approved hooded garments must display the STEM logo.
Students participating in Physical Education must wear approved STEM Physical Education apparel and appropriate athletic footwear.
For safety reasons, appropriate footwear must be worn throughout the school day. Flip-flops, thong sandals, slippers, Crocs, slides, and other unsecured footwear are not permitted. Sandals, when appropriate, must be securely fastened.
Students may not wear doo-rags, bonnets, or other nonreligious head coverings inconsistent with school dress expectations. Questions regarding religious, cultural, medical, or other accommodations should be directed to school administration.
